“And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.” – Matthew 2:11 (ESV)
Every December, I normally read the Christmas story from Luke. This year, I decided to read from another one of the gospels. It was interesting reading it from Matthew’s perspective.
The part that really jumped out at me was when the Magi found the child, Jesus Christ, for the first time.
The passage says they “fell down in worship.” The translation of that text literally means to fall down on their face. In their journey to find Jesus, they were expecting great things. When they found Him, they were overcome with wonder and awe. Their response? To worship Him from a place of vulnerability and wonder.
When I think about this, I can’t help but think about Celebrate Recovery worship with our forever family. We come into this place weekly, expecting Jesus to show Himself powerful in our life. He shows us His incredible power that is expressed through a life change miracle. As you approach this Christmas, remember, don’t lose the wonder of His power and majesty living and breathing in your life. Don’t miss the wonder of being alive in Christ!
May our response to this gift show a life of worship in Him.
Merry Christmas, forever family.
